Appointment update
The request for visits at CAPS continues to increase. Although the wait time for routine ("non-urgent") appointments may exceed two weeks, your phone screening will typically take place within 24 hours. Get the details about scheduling an appointment so you will know what to expect.
University life can generate academic, emotional, and social concerns. Everyone experiences them; but at times these concerns can make it difficult to function. It is a sign of intelligence and strength to recognize when you may need help, and it is also the first step in solving any difficulty.
Over 2,800 Cornell students visit CAPS each year for a total of over 20,000 visits. They come from very diverse backgrounds and seek our services when they are experiencing stress, hopelessness, loneliness, anxiety, depression, adjustment challenges, relationship difficulties, sexual questions, or many other issues.
CAPS staff members provide a safe, confidential atmosphere where, together, you can consider your current situation in the context of your personal history and life experiences. Through receiving counseling and psychological services, you can come to see yourself, your relationships, and the world in a different way.
In this website, you will find a wealth of information about who we are, how we work, the services we offer, as well as many self-help resources.
The mission of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is to provide crisis intervention, brief counseling, outpatient psychiatric care, outreach, and referral services to Cornell University students. We also offer consultation, education, and prevention strategies to the University community. We seek to encourage an environment of inclusion and personal development.
