Community-Based Services

CAPS is committed to meeting the unique needs of students who comprise the broadly diverse Cornell community. We are aware that some students find it difficult to access traditional mental health services.

In response to this concern, the CAPS Community-Based Services (CBS) team:

  • offers one-on-one consultations for students during walk-in consultations at "Let's Talk" sites around campus.
  • provides student-centered and program-centered consultation to students, faculty, and staff under the Community Consultation and Intervention (CCI) Program.
  • facilitates informal discussion groups around campus
  • consults with faculty, staff, and students who are concerned about and or want to help a student in distress
  • provides training on student mental health needs and challenges for faculty, staff, and student groups
  • collaborates and consults with other Gannett staff, campus and community partners, and student leaders to create new avenues and enhance access to mental and physical health care and other supportive services for Cornell students
  • participates in campus-wide initiatives to create a healthy and supportive living and learning environment for all Cornell students
