Gannett Health Services

Gannett Health Services is located on Cornell’s central campus. Most of our visitors find Gannett within comfortable walking distance.

Location and maps

If you need a ride, you have several options.

Gannett Patient Transport can assist people who are ill or injured get to and from an appointment at Gannett, or to an urgent, same-day, specialty health-care appointment when referred by a Gannett provider. Call us at 607 255-5155 (press option 3 to arrange a pick-up time and location).

Ambulance: In an emergency, call 911 or the Cornell University Police (607 255-1111). An ambulance will take you to the Cayuga Medical Center Emergency Department.

Bus:  Current bus schedules are posted on the TCAT website. Bus routes that go by Gannett include:

  • Cornell Campus Routes: 83, 84, 85, 86, 92, 93
  • TCAT Routes: 10, 12, 20, 21, 31, 37, 43, 52, 53, 65

Taxi: If you need a taxi, call 607 277-7777. Gannett has arrangements with Ithaca taxi companies to allow students to charge to their bursar bills the fare for a ride to Gannett or other health care facility (e.g., a doctor's office, the Convenient Care Center or Cayuga Medical Center). Just tell the driver you are going for health care services and show your student ID.

Car/Parking: If you want to drive, patient parking is available in the lower lot next to Gannett (off Campus Road). The patient parking (pdf) spaces are well-marked. Sign the patient log inside the back door of Gannett if you use one of these spaces. Additional parking is available in the metered lot behind Willard Straight Hall.

You can call Gannett anytime of day or night, every day of the year, to talk with a health care provider about a mental or physical health concern. We will help you determine what care you need, and how and when to get it. We offer consultation and advice for patients, clients, and all Cornell students (or for their concerned friends, family, faculty, or staff). If you need an appointment at Gannett, we will schedule you as soon as possible. If necessary, we will arrange transportation to the Cayuga Medical Center Emergency Department or Convenient Care Center.

When you call 255-5155 after-hours, Gannett's answering service will answer the phone. Just leave your name and the phone number at which we can reach you. Please stay by your phone: the on-call health care provider will return your call within 15 minutes. If you don't get a call back, please call again. On rare occasions, the correct phone number gets lost in translation.

If the Gannett phone number does not connect you with a person, please call the Cornell University Police at 255-1111. The dispatcher will contact the Gannett on-call provider directly.

Temporary Disability Assistance

If a you have a temporary disability for which transportation assistance is necessary in order to fulfill your academic requirements, Gannett staff can help you obtain a temporary bus pass. A nurse will complete a form and fax it to Student Disability Services (SDS) on your behalf. The nurse will then facilitate your transport to SDS for an appointment at the earliest possible time. SDS can provide you with additional  assistance if needed.
