Cornell's Medical Amnesty Protocol is designed to encourage students to call for help in an alcohol-related medical emergency.
Under the Medical Amnesty Protocol (MAP):
-
A student in need of medical help is not to be subject to judicial action for underage possession of alcohol or disorderly conduct if the student completes a required psycho-educational intervention at Gannett Health Services.
-
An individual who calls 911 for emergency assistance on behalf of a person experiencing an alcohol-related emergency is not be subject to judicial action for underage possession of alcohol, provision of alcohol to an underage person, or disorderly conduct.
-
If a representative of an organization hosting an event calls for medical assistance, this act of responsibility will mitigate any judicial consequences against the organization that may arise.
