How to Help Someone

Given the vast, decentralized nature of the Cornell campus, it can be difficult to know what to do or where to turn in the event that you are concerned about another person's health or safety. Gannett offers confidential consultation on an array of health issues. We work frequently with faculty, staff, and student leaders to identify and reach out to students in distress. Individual students also consult with us about their concerns for roomates, friends, co-workers, and teammates. Please use our staff as a resource whenever you feel someone may be in need of support or attention.

As someone with concerns about others, you may want to review these specific tips for helping someone in need. You may also wish to consult directly with these Gannett services:

Counseling and Psychological Services
On-call Health Care Provider or Counselor
Cornell Healthy Eating Program
Patient Advocate
Victim Assistance
