Gannett's primary mission is to serve Cornell students, faculty, and staff. We may be able to assist visitors and guests with very minor health-related concerns. Most often, we will help assess the visitor's needs and options and will make a referral to the appropriate off-campus medical care provider and/or facility. To find out whether we can help you, please call us at 607 255-5155.
- In an emergency, call 911.
- For urgent care for illnesses and injuries, go to the Cayuga Medical Center Emergency Department or Convenient Care Center or Five Star Urgent Care.
The Gannett Pharmacy offers prescription and non-prescription medications, and a variety of health and self-care supplies.
Paying for Services
Fees are charged for most services, and payment is expected at the time of the visit. We accept cash, check, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express).
Gannett will submit claims directly to Cornell-sponsored insurance plans.
People come to Gannett with such a wide range of health insurance plans from every state in the country that we are unable to submit claims directly for those with private insurance. If you have non-Cornell health insurance, you will need to pay your Gannett bill. Upon request, a Gannett cashier (Level 3) will provide you with a statement of charges you may submit to your health insurance company for possible reimbursement.
Please be aware: it may take 3-5 business days for all charges associated with your visit to appear in your statement. For instance, lab tests ordered during your visit may generate further charges if they are sent to outside labs or if they necessitate follow-up testing. If you obtain a printed receipt a Gannett cashier before then, it may not reflect all charges.
Review Paying For Health Care (pdf) to make sure you understand how this works.
Medicare and Medicaid
Gannett is not able to bill directly to Medicare or Medicaid, but we can help connect you to providers who can. If you choose to receive care at Gannett, you will be responsible for charges. If you need lab tests, x-rays, or other special procedures, please let your clinician know so we can make arrangements for you to have them done at the hospital.
