Ticks and Lyme Disease

Ithaca, including the campus community, is a wonderful place to explore the outdoors. With rolling hills, woods, fields, and shore, there is no end to the potential for interacting with the natural world. Unfortunately, not all interactions are positive. Of particular note are the small insects known as deer ticks, and the illness known as Lyme Disease they can cause. Some advanced knowledge of the deer ticks' habitat, appropriate protection/prevention strategies, and signs and symptoms asociated with tick bites can go a long way toward empowering you as an outdoor explorer (or casual weekend wanderer).
