Preventing Pregnancy and STI's

If you choose to be sexually active and regardless of who you may partner with (men, women, both), disease and pregnancy prevention are crucial for a stress-free and mutually satisfying sexual relationship.

While abstinence provides the most effective way to prevent sexually transmissible infections (STIs) and unwanted pregnancy, it may not work for everyone. Therefore, consider some of the many ways available to reduce risks to you and your partners.

  • Talk to your partner. Know what you want and do not want sexually.
  • Talk to each other about past risks, possible exposures.
  • Get tested for STI's before being intimate.
  • Have supplies, carry them with you and have a plan for using them.
  • Remember that alcohol and drug use can lead to unsafe sex.
  • Protecting against risk shows you care!
  • RESPECT YOURSELF!
