Emergencies

Any situation that requires an immediate police, fire, or medical response to preserve life or property is considered an emergency. You should not hesitate to call "first responders" who are equipped to provide emergency services any time, any place, to anyone. Use the phone numbers to the right.

It's difficult in the midst of a crisis to remember whom to call, what to do, and how to handle different kinds of emergencies. We hope you will review the more complete emergency information on this web site and share it with others before a crisis happens.

Though it is beyond Gannett's mission and scope of service to provide "first responder" or "emergency room" services, we can provide consultation and primary care medical and counseling services for many of the crises you and people you know will face.

24-7 Phone Consultation: 607 255-5155

(for members of the Cornell community)

You can call Gannett anytime of day or night, every day of the year, to talk with a health care provider about a mental or physical health concern. We will help you determine what care you need, and how and when to get it. We offer consultation and advice for patients, clients, and all Cornell students (or for their concerned friends, family, faculty, or staff). If you need an appointment at Gannett, we will schedule you as soon as possible. If necessary, we will arrange transportation to the Cayuga Medical Center Emergency Department or Convenient Care Center.

When you call 255-5155 after-hours, Gannett's answering service will answer the phone. Just leave your name and the phone number at which we can reach you. Please stay by your phone: the on-call health care provider will return your call within 15 minutes. If you don't get a call back, please call again. On rare occasions, the correct phone number gets lost in translation.

If the Gannett phone number does not connect you with a person, please call the Cornell University Police at 255-1111. The dispatcher will contact the Gannett on-call provider directly.
