At Gannett, we are eager to provide high quality primary care services for all athletes. We will help you with your sports injuries, as well as other injuries, illnesses, health improvement and disease prevention needs. If you need specialty care, we will help you connect with one of the many specialists in the Ithaca area (or elsewhere, if you prefer).
If you are not a member of a Cornell athletic team, please call Gannett to request an appointment for the services you need at 255-5155.
If are a member of a Cornell intercollegiate athletic team, your primary care medical services will be provided byGannett clinicians who are part of Cornell's Sports Medicine staff.
Staying healthy is essential to peak performance in athletics and academics, as well as enjoyment of the other aspects of your life. Cornell Sports Medicine seeks to be a vital partner in your health care, from your first sports clearance to the end of your last season as a Cornell athlete. Our staff will work with you to care for your illnesses and injuries; we will also help you learn how to protect and enhance your health.
If you are sick or injured, please contact the athletic training staff and/or the Sports Medicine Clinic to schedule an appointment. In-season athletes receive the highest priority. If you have an urgent health concern (like an acute injury or infection) that cannot wait for a regularly scheduled appointment, please request a same-day appointment.
Gannett provides many other services for students, such as nutrition counseling; sexual health care; alcohol, tobacco and other drug services; and counseling. You do not need to go through Sports Medicine to access those services.
Fees are charged for most services. You must pay for services (by cash, check, credit card, or bursar charge) at the time they are rendered. Most athletic injury costs (incurred as a direct result of participation in intercollegiate sports at Cornell)not covered by your health insurance (the Cornell Student Health Insurance Plan or your own private insurance) will be paid by Cornell University Intercollegiate Athletic Injury Insurance. Please talk with Charlene Haskell, the Athletic Insurance Coordinator, to make sure you understand how this works and maximize your coverage.
We recommend that all athletes get vaccinated each year to protect against getting the flu. You can get your flu shot at Gannett or at one of vaccine clinics offered on campus during the fall. Check the Gannett home page for information in October.
We also encourage you to consider getting the meningococcal vaccine if you have not been vaccinated previously. It will be available at Gannett during your sports clearance time (or at any other time of year).
You may bursar the charge for vaccines or pay at the time of service.
During the academic year, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. through 5 p.m.
