Vision Care

Are you squinting in class? Getting headaches during your late night study sessions? It may be that it's time to get your vision checked. Although Gannett does not provide vision care, the Ithaca area has many fine vision care professionals to serve your needs.

The most up-to-date lists of vision care professionals in the Ithaca area (ophthamologists, optometrists, and opticians) are in the Ithaca-Area Yellow Pages. Our staff also can provide you with a list of vision care professionals. Call 255-5155 or stop by the reception desk on Level 3.

If you have vision care insurance, be sure to inquire when you call a provider about whether his or her office participates with your insurance plan.

Note: Cornell's Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) makes optional vision coverage available to its participants. If you are a SHIP Member, visit the website for more information on enrolling in the vision plan and on participating providers.

The New York State Education Department oversees the licensure of optometrists and opticians. To verify a license and learn more about who must be licensed and currently registered to offer professional services and/or used the professional title, contact the New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions at 518.474.3817 or www.op.nysed.gov.
