The mission of the Cornell University Police (CUP) is to serve and protect our campus community.
CUP operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year providing not only basic law enforcement activities, but also serving as a primary link to connect individuals in need with campus and community resources. The department includes highly-trained, certified, and sworn law enforcement officers as well as civilian employees.
The Department is built on a foundation of community service and crime prevention which respects and preserves the human dignity of all individuals served. CUP officers and departmental staff have received training to assist in the early detection and assessment of emotional distress, and can provide guidance and support when assistance is needed. You can call the Cornell Police for consultation or assistance in an urgent or emergency mental health situation.
Community Safety Tip
Program the Cornell Police phone number (607-255-1111) into your cell phone for quick access. In an emergency, you can also call 911 from any campus phone or elsewhere in the Ithaca community to reach police, ambulance and fire services.
