Transferring Your Prescription to the Gannett Pharmacy

Gannett's transfer policy

Our transfer policy is in accordance with New York State Pharmacy Law 63.6 Section 8: "Refill transfers: Except for a prescription for a controlled substance under Article 33 of Public Health Law, pharmacist at registered pharmacies may, at the express request and approval of a patient or a person authorized to act on behalf of the patient, transfer prescription information to, or accept a transfer from, another registered pharmacy or a pharmacy authorized to do business in another jurisdiction for the exclusive purpose of providing ONE authorized refill per transfer, subject to requirements of this paragraph."

What this means for members of the Cornell community

1) We can transfer 1 refill to or from your home pharmacy. If more than 1 refill is required-the prescribing clinician must authorize it.

2) We will need the phone number of either the other pharmacy OR your clinician in order to authorize the refills.

3) Your patience is necessary. Very often phone lines are busy or your home pharmacy is in a different time zone and we have to wait for them to open for business.
