Gannett Assistance Program

The rising cost of prescription drugs presents significant challenges both nationally and to the individuals who need them. Even a generous health insurance plan may not provide adequate coverage for needed medications.

The Gannett Assistance Program (GAP) is designed to help Cornell students identify resources to offset the cost of their prescription medications. Limited assistance is available to students who have reached (or who anticipate reaching) the maximum level of coverage offered by their health insurance plans.

Last year, Gannett was able to partner with drug companies to provide $70,000 in needed medications to students who surpassed their maximum prescription benefit or did not have prescription drug coverage.

Getting started

Many free or discounted drug programs can be found through the Partnership for Prescription Assistance. Go to their website and click on the button marked "Patients” to enter the information requested. You may be able to find the resource you need on your own, without the involvement of a staff member from Gannett.

Help from Gannett

If the above website does NOT offer the resource(s) you need, we would be happy to try to help.

  • Please open and print this GAP information card (pdf), and complete the form.
  • Then call Gannett at 607 255-6976 to schedule a time to review your information with our pharmacist. S/he will be able to advise you on additional resources for accessing the medications you need.

Because every situation is unique, it can take time to identify new resources. We encourage you to access the GAP as soon as you are aware of your need.
