Prescription Items
The Gannett pharmacy carries a wide variety of prescription medications. Gannett pharmacists fill prescriptions written by Gannett clinicians and outside providers.
We provide individual counseling about how to take your prescription medications, any potential side effects, and drug interactions. We can also help you choose the best over-the-counter (OTC) medication for your needs.

FAQ
Q. Can I have my prescription from an outside provider filled at Gannett?
A. To ensure your request to fill a prescription is handled in a timely manner, it is always best to call the Pharmacy. For general information about filling prescriptions, see below.
Prescriptions from a non-Gannett provider within NY State can be
- dropped off
- phoned
- faxed
into the Gannett Pharmacy by your selected provider. If you have your existing medication bottle with you, you may bring it to the Gannett Pharmacy, and the Pharmacist will let you know your options.
Out-of-state providers must provide a phone or fax prescription order for non controlled medication to be filled at the Gannett Pharmacy. Controlled medication must have a written hard copy prescription.
Federal law does not allow pharmacies to fill prescriptions ordered by providers outside of the U.S.
The Pharmacist is able to answer any questions you have about your medications. Call 607 255-6976 to speak with our Pharmacist or 607 254-6337 (4-MEDS) to fill a prescription.
Note: Most prescriptions for controlled substances (e.g., Adderall) are subject to both federal and state regulations. Talk with our Pharmacist to learn more about filling C2 medications at Gannett.
Q. How do I pay for prescriptions I get at Gannett?
A. You can pay directly for your prescriptions in several ways with cash, check, or credit card (VISA, MasterCard, or Discover) at the cashier desk in the lobby. During the academic year, students can put the charge on the Bursar bill.
If you want to use your prescription insurance:
- and are on Cornell's Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), our Pharmacist can bill directly to your plan.
- and you have insurance through a Plan other than SHIP, please consult with our Pharmacist regarding possible plan participation in the future.
Q. What if I have refills on my prescription and need more medication when I'm not on campus?
A. Consider taking your prescription label from Gannett to a pharmacy in your area. The pharmacy can then call Gannett and ask us to "transfer the prescription" to them so that they can fill it. (Note: some State laws prevent this.) Be sure you have the phone number for the Gannett pharmacy available when you make the request.
Save time and avoid lines. Request your refill by phone. Call 4-MEDS (607 254-6337) with your order, anytime day or night, and pick it up during pharmacy business hours.
