"Sharps" containers are made for the safe disposal of used needles and syringes. They are typically made of hard plastic so that needles cannot poke through.

If you use needles or syringes for any purpose, please purchase a sharps container from the Gannett Pharmacy. We sell two different sizes.

To dispose of your sharps safely, please return the container to Gannett. There is no charge for disposal.

Needle stick injuries resulting from the unsafe disposal of needles present significant health risks, including infection with blood borne diseases.

If you are aware of an area on campus where needles and syringes are not being disposed of safely, please print a copy of this Safe Needle Disposal poster (pdf). Place it next to trash and recycling bins, or in other public areas.
