Cornell's Smoking Policy

In July, 2003, New York  State passed the Clean Indoor Act which prohibits smoking in all indoor work environments.

Cornell’s Smoking Policy complies with this new law, and prohibits the smoking or carrying of lighted cigars, cigarettes or pipes in all indoor facilities, enclosed bus stops, and university-owned or controlled vehicles, as well as within twenty-five feet of the entrance to any university-owned or controlled building. In addition, smoking is not permitted in undergraduate residence halls; and tobacco products are not sold by university departments.
