CHEP nutrition services
Nutrition counseling offers an opportunity to discuss specific concerns about
your eating pattern, weight, body composition, health and fitness, in the context
of a Cornell lifestyle. An initial appointment with a nutritionist is usually 30 minutes, and follow-up appointments can be scheduled as needed.
Our nutrition team can provide:
- information and answers to questions about nutrition
- evaluation of current eating and exercise behaviors
- review of weight and/or eating problem history
- body composition analysis; a non-invasive test to assess hydration status and
lean body weight
- referral for a metabolic profile (optional); a non-invasive test to determine
resting energy expenditure and rate of body protein turnover
- individualized nutrition education and recommendations
- referrals for information and care outside of Cornell
- information on how to help a friend or relative
CHEP medical care
A medical consultation is important for many nutrition-related concerns. Our
medical clinicians can help assess your general health, address any specific health concerns, and
provide referrals as needed for specialized testing and care. Fatigue, anemia,
digestive problems, stress fractures, loss of menstruation in women, and other
endocrine abnormalities are among conditions that can occur alongside of nutrition
problems. Determining the cause of these conditions is essential to good treatment
and recovery.
Our medical team can provide:
- evaluation of eating patterns and behaviors that can affect physical health
- exploration of other conditions that may mimic or contribute to eating problems
- review of physical symptoms that characterize sub-optimal nutrition
- comprehensive assessment of physical health
- education regarding medical risks and complications
- evidence-based medical treatment to optimize health and wellness
- promotion of self-motivation and goal-setting
