Cornell Healthy Eating Program: Meet the Team

The multidisciplinary team that staffs the Cornell Healthy Eating Program includes nutritionists, medical clinicians, counselors, and psychiatrists.

Nutrition

Carolyn Hodges, MS, RD coordinates the eating disorders treatment program at Gannett and provides nutrition counseling several days a week for students with weight and/or eating problems. Carolyn received her Master’s degree from Marywood College in Pennsylvania. Widely recognized for her expertise in the field, Carolyn serves as consultant for many hospitals and colleges in the Northeast and for the US Women’s Rowing Team.

Myra Berkowitz, MNS, RD, CDN has worked at Gannett since 1986. She received her Master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition from Cornell’s Division of Nutritional Sciences. She provides counseling for students with general nutrition and clinical nutrition concerns.

Bruce Brennan, MS, RD provides nutrition counseling for weight management and eating disorders. He received his Master's degree from Marywood College in Scranton, PA.


Medical

A.J. Rubineau, MD, MPH joined the CHEP team in 2007 as lead medical clinician. She received her medical degree from Yale School of Medicine and trained as a family practice physician at Brown University. She earned her Masters in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she studied nutritional deficiencies in pregnant women in Rajasthan, India.

Barbara Armstrong, APRN-BC, MS, FNP has been a Nurse Practitioner at Gannett since 1994. Prior to then she worked as a Nurse Practitioner at Planned Parenthood of Tompkins County and as a school Nurse-Teacher for the Ithaca City School District. Barb received her BSN from Niagara University and her MS from Binghamton University.

Counseling and psychiatry


Counselors

Diane Sullivan, CSW specializes in eating disorders as well as substance abuse. Diane received her MSW from Syracuse University in 1988 and is the clinical supervisor for eating disorders at Gannett’s Counseling and Psychological Services.

Matt Boone, LCSW has expertise in eating problems and other counseling concerns including anxiety, trauma, and multicultural issues. He received his Master's degree in social work from Boston University.

Dawn Kenner, MA specializes in eating disorders. She received her Master's degree in Counseling from the University of San Diego.

Randy Patterson, PhD specializes in eating disorders as well as the mind/body connection. She obtained her Master’s degree from Harvard University in 1990 and her PhD in Counseling Psychology from Pennsylvania State University in 2008.

Psychiatry staff 

Anna Matusiewicz, MD has been treating clients with eating problems at Gannett since 1985. Board certified in Psychiatry, she received her MD and completed her residency at SUNY Upstate Medical Center.

Margaret MacKenzie, MD is board certified in Psychiatry and holds her medical degree from the Mayo Medical School of Rochester, Minnesota.

Robert Mendola, MD has expertise in psychopharmacology and the treatment of depression and anxiety. He received his medical degree from SUNY Buffalo, completed his residency at University of Massachussetts Medical Center, and is Board Certified in psychiatry.

Mary Beth Osborn, RN, MS was trained at Binghamton University to provide support with psychopharmacology, assessment, and nursing aspects of psychiatry.
