We know that stress can affect your physical body, emotional health, and general sense of well-being. Gannett is here to help. Services are provided to the entire Cornell community and are conveniently located on campus.
Browse the links below to see which of these services may be right for you.
Massage Therapy: Massage not only relieves and relaxes tired muscles, but it also provides an opportunity for healing, non-sexual touch, and a space for letting go of worries and tensions.
Health Promotion: Staff at Health Promotion offer affirming and informative brochures, posters, and stress tips that can enhance your relaxation efforts and help support a balanced lifestyle. This may include linking you with other fun, healthy, or relaxing campus and off-campus resources.
Medical Services: Gannett clinicians can assess physical complaints, determine or rule out medical illness, and offer suggestions to ease your symptoms. Sleep difficulties or nutrition concerns can also be addressed if the student chooses.
Counseling and Psychological Services: Gannett counselors provide a safe place to talk about whatever is on your mind. Services are offered in-house, and at a variety of "Let's Talk" off-site locations. Sleep difficulties can be assessed, and short-term sleep medications prescribed and monitored by one of our psychiatrists.
Pharmacy: The Gannett Pharmacy offers over 1,000 prescription and non-prescription products, most of which can help relieve stress of one kind or another. This includes a variety of self-help books, and novelty items such as Cherry Pit Pillows (heat or chill to soothe sore muscles or relieve headaches) and light therapy devices (i.e., full spectrum light bulbs and light boxes) to offset the "Winter Blues."
Sexual Health Counseling: Free and confidential appointments can be made with a Gannett Clinical Counselor. Come talk about stressors related to relationships, intimacy, sexual identity or functioning; or concerns regarding pregnancy, STIs, etc.
Nutrition Counseling: If you're considering ways to improve your diet, get the most out of the food you eat, build on building muscle mass, or re-evaluate your relationship to food, consider meeting with a Gannett nutritionist through the Cornell Healthy Eating Program.
BASICS: If you're using alcohol or other drugs to moderate your stress, or finding that it is contributing to your stress level, consider making an appointment with a BASICS' provider. S/he can help you explore your alcohol or other drug use in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. More good news: We will waive the $35 charge for the service if you are not a "mandated" participant in BASICS.
