Who Are You?

Are you Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Questioning Your Sexuality, Queer, Intersex (LGBTQI)...or perhaps you prefer no labels?

Gannett staff members and volunteers are respectful of the diversity of the Cornell population we serve and are committed to providing services that are sensitive, confidential, and responsive to the needs of students, staff, and faculty of all sexes, genders, and sexual orientations.

We understand that seeking medical consultation or treatment can be a difficult process, even if you have had years of experience taking care of your own health needs. While you are part of the Cornell community, however, we encourage you to make the most of the services we offer, including the following:

Safe Place

Gannett is proud to be a co-sponsor of the Safe Place Project at Cornell. Safe Place promotes the creation of a space defined by equality, free from discrimination and hate. It seeks to involve departments and individuals in a united effort to make the prevailing social climate of the Cornell community more inclusive and supportive of its lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning members. We value our partnership with Cornell's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Resource Center and the Queer Student Union/HAVEN (an umbrella organization for the LGBTQ student social, support and discussion groups).

Emotional health and support

Often students find themselves questioning, expanding, or claiming their sexual orientation and preferences during their time at Cornell. Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is committed to providing affirmative and supportive services to lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender, and questioning individuals. Students may use these services to clarify and discover their own sexual identity; explore coming out to friends and family; and to find ways to connect with other LGBTQ individuals. Students may also seek help for relationship problems, anxiety, depression, and stress. CAPS offers support/discussion groups and individual and couples counseling.

Confidentiality and privacy information

Our staff will work with you to ensure that the information in your health records remains private and confidential. If you have any concerns or questions about confidentiality, please talk with your health care provider or a Gannett Patient Advocate.
