Faculty and staff members are essential allies in promoting student health, encouraging the timely use of health care services, and connecting students in distress with valuable support. Gannett’s counseling, medical, and health promotion staff encourage employees who have questions about services, concerns about access to care, or needs for information, consultation, or advice to call 255-5155 to talk with a health care provider. We even have 24/7 phone consultation for urgent concerns. During business hours you may also call 255-5208 to consult with a therapist in Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) regarding any mental health concerns you might have regarding a student.
In today’s complex world, it is not unusual to encounter a colleague who is going

Each year Gannett staff members collaborate with members of the Cornell faculty to enhance the student learning experience and integrate student health concerns into existing curricula. Gannett staff members have served as resources for class projects, guest lectures, and research partnerships. Faculty members have also rewarded students with “extra credit” for participation in Gannett focus groups, surveys, and outreach projects. We also consult with staff members who are developing training programs for students. If you have an idea, or would like to consult with our staff about curriculum infusion or other collaborative projects, please call Gannett Health Promotion at 255-4872.
Gannett is a multidisciplinary health care organization serving the academic mission of the university through creation and support of a health campus community in which each student may participate fully in intellectual and personal growth.
Gannett works closely with campus colleagues in order to enhance the health and welfare of the Cornell community. Committee work, collaborative trainings and workshops, policy reform, campus surveys, and outreach programming all provide opportunities to advance our identified campus health initiatives.
Cornell students may apply for a Voluntary Leave of Absence (a separation of the student from the university) for Health Reasons (HLOA). Learn more about this process.
