Getting a Cornell education is an opportunity and a challenge, for both students and their partners/spouses.

We hope that you remain in good health while you are part of the Cornell community; however, should you need us, we want to make sure you know about the opportunities and services we provide.


Gannett medical services

Known as a primary care facility for the health needs of students, Gannett offers a wide range of services to the spouses and partners of Cornell students.

For spouses and partners who are enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), Gannett is your primary care provider. To understand the full range of benefits to which you are entitled, please visit the Cornell Office of Student Health Insurance. Get acquainted with Gannett through this website and visits to the health center. 

For spouses and partners who are not enrolled in the SHIP, you may choose Gannett as your primary care provider or use a primary care provider in the community. Gannett does not provide services for children.

Gannett counseling services

Gannett's Counseling and Psychological Services is able to provide individual and group counseling only for full-time registered students. Couples counseling is available to address relationship issues if one member of the couple is an eligible Cornell student.

You or your partner may benefit from other counseling and support services offered at Gannett, on campus, and in the community. Our Counseling and Support page is a good place to start to explore options.


Health care in the Ithaca area

The Ithaca area is rich in resources related to health care, including primary, specialty, and acute care medical services; counseling and psychiatry; physical and massage therapy; complementary and alternative medicine; dental and vision care; and many health promotion and advocacy organizations. The Yellow Pages in the Ithaca Area telephone book has a comprehensive listing. Helping your partner/spouse

Student spouses and partners are essential allies in encouraging in supporting the health of their student partners. The timely use of medical and counseling services could make a big difference in your partner's well-being and academic success.


Talk to us

Please look around our website and contact us with questions about the services that are available for you or your partner, concerns about access to care, or information, consultation, referral, or advice. We even have 24/7 phone consultation for urgent concerns. If you would be more comfortable communicating about your health care needs in a language other than English, please let us know before you come for a visit. Gannett's language line offers translation in more than 170 languages.
